RE: Delegation of Authority for Postgraduate Research Titles
It seems apparent from current practice that appointment and
merit approval for the postgraduate research series was delegated
to the deans. However, there is no written record of such
delegation other than a document dated March 17, 1983, appended
to a memo from Carlton R. Bovell, The Vice Chancellor, with
delegations of appointment authority which identifies among other
titles that the dean has appointment authority for Postgraduate
Research and Visiting Postdoctoral with no Budget Committee
Review.
This memo is to document policy which has been past practice. In
accord with APM 350-24, I am delegating authority to the deans to
appoint, promote, and grant normal and accelerated merits for the
postgraduate research series.
